2025 ACA Interclubs Schedule
Auckland Chess Association’s interclubs in 2025 would be played according to the following schedule:

Venue for all 2025 ACA interclub tournaments shall be:

2025 ACA A-Grade Interclubs
Eligibility
This is a tournament between teams of 4 players where each of the 8 ACA member clubs are entitled to form a team resulting in a maximum of 8 teams participating. Prior to the start of the first round, each team must supply a “team list” that would be the pool of players (maximum 5 players) out of which 4 players would be playing for the team per round. Players in the team list must be members of the team’s club and cannot represent another club in any other ACA tournament. No more players may be added to the team list once the first round has started.
Format
Team swiss of 4 rounds for up to 8 teams of 4 players plus 1 reserve. Clubs may apply to have extra team(s) if there is space due to some club(s) not participating.
Board Order
Team board order determined through the following rating priority.
- FIDE standard
- NZCF standard
- NZCF rapid
- Chief Arbiter’s estimate.
Ratings are from the relevant published rating list that is current at start of tournament.
Time Control
60 minutes per player, 30 seconds increment per move.
Games would be FIDE and NZCF rated if possible.
Scoring System
Standings would be determined by match points.
Any ties broken through tiebreaks in the following order:
- Game points
- Direct encounter
- Weighted boards.
- More tiebreaks may be utilised if required.
Tournament administration software would be Orion that would perform all calculations.

2025 ACA B-Grade Interclubs
Eligibility
This is a tournament between teams of 4 players where each of the 8 ACA member clubs are entitled to form a team resulting in a maximum of 8 teams participating. Prior to the start of the first round, each team must supply a “team list” that would be the pool of players (maximum 5 players) out of which 4 players would be playing for the team per round. Players in the team list must be members of the team’s club and cannot represent another club in any other ACA tournament. No more players may be added to the team list once the first round has started. All players must have current published rating(s) that are all, as defined under “Board Order” under 1800.
Format
Team swiss of 4 rounds for up to 8 teams of 4 players plus 1 reserve. Clubs may apply to have extra team(s) if there is space due to some club(s) not participating.

Team board order determined through the following rating priority.
- FIDE standard
- NZCF standard
- NZCF rapid

2025 ACA Blitz (Lightning) Interclubs
Eligibility
This is a tournament between teams of players from each of the 8 ACA member clubs that may enter up to 6 players each who would form the club’s team. Clubs may apply to have additional players if there is space due to some club(s) not participating or not taking up their full quota. Number of players per club cannot exceed half the total number of players in the tournament. Players in the team list (list of a club’s players) must be members of the team’s club and cannot represent another club in any other ACA tournament.
Format
Players swiss numbers
Player swiss numbers are determined through the following rating priority.
- FIDE blitz
- FIDE standard
- NZCF rapid
- NZCF standard
Ratings are from the relevant published rating list that is current at start of tournament.
Time Control
Blitz. 3 minutes per player plus 2 seconds increment per move.
Games would be FIDE rated if possible.
Scoring System
Team standings would be determined by the sum of top 4 scoring players in a club’s game points.
Any ties are broken through tiebreaks in the following order:
- sum of top 5 scoring players in a club’s game points.
- sum of top 6 scoring players in a club’s game points.
Tournament administration software would be Vega that would perform all calculations.

2025 ACA Junior Interclubs
Eligibility
This is a tournament between teams of 4 players where each of the 8 ACA member clubs are entitled to form up to 2 teams resulting in a maximum of 16 teams participating. Prior to the start of the first round, each team must supply a “team list” that would list the 4 players who are playing exclusively for that team in all rounds. Players in the team list must be members of the team’s club and cannot represent another club in any other ACA tournament. No more players may be added to the team list once the first round has started. All players must be under the age of 14 (not attained age 14 or above in 2024)
Format
Team swiss of 6 rounds for up to 16 teams of 4 players plus 1 reserve. Clubs may apply to have extra team(s) if there is space due to some club(s) not participating.
Board Order
Team board order determined through the following rating priority.
- FIDE rapid
- FIDE standard
- NZCF rapid
- NZCF standard
