2023 ACA A-Grade Interclubs would be played over 5 rounds on 18th June, 2nd July, 9th July, 30th July, 20th August, at Auckland Chess Centre.

2023 ACA A-Grade Interclubs

2023 Auckland Chess Association (ACA) A-Grade Interclubs would be played over 5 rounds at Auckland Chess Centre.

Tournament administration software would be Orion with results published on Vega Results. PGN of games available on Lichess. Photos in ACA’s Facebook photo album.

Final standings were:

  1. AC = Auckland Chess Centre. 8/10 match points, 23/30 game points.
  2. NS = North Shore Chess Club. 8/10 match points, 21.5/30 game points.
  3. SU = Summit Chess Club. 8/10 match points, 20.5/30 game points.
  4. HP = Howick Pakuranga Chess Club. 4/10 match points, 10.5/30 game points.
  5. WT = Waitakere Chess Club. 2/10 match points, 7.5/30 game points.
  6. PT = Papatoetoe Chess Club. 0/10 match points, 6/30 game points.

 

Congratulations to Auckland Chess Centre for successfully defending being A-Grade Interclubs Champion. Followed closely by North Shore Chess Club and Summit Chess Club being tied on match points and closely separated by game points.

2023 ACA A-Grade Interclubs Regulations

Eligibility

This is a tournament between teams of 6 players where each of the 8 ACA member clubs are entitled to form a team resulting in a maximum of 8 teams participating. Prior to the start of the first round, each team must supply a “team list” that would be the  pool of players (maximum 30 players) out of which 6 players would be playing for the team per round. Players in the team list must be members of the team’s club and cannot represent another club in any other ACA tournament. No more players may be added to the team list once the first round has started.

Format

Single round robin of up to 5 rounds for up to 6 teams. If there are more than 6 teams participating, the tournament would be a Swiss of 5 rounds.

Board Order

Team board order determined through the following rating priority.

  1. FIDE standard
  2. NZCF standard
  3. NZCF rapid
  4. Chief Arbiter’s estimate.

Ratings are from the relevant published rating list that is current at start of tournament.

Time Control

75 minutes per player, 30 seconds increment per move.

Games would be NZCF rated if possible.

Default time is 30 minutes.

Scoring System

Standings would be determined by match points.

Any ties broken through tiebreaks in the following order:

  1. Game points
  2. Direct encounter
  3. Weighted boards.
  4. More tiebreaks may be utilised if required.

Tournament administration software would be Orion that would perform all calculations.
